10 New Year’s Eve jols to attend


Cape Town – It’s almost time for 2017 to come to an end and usher in the new year with an awesome party.

1. Shimmy Beach Club presents F*** Me I’m Famous
Coming to you straight from Ibiza, F*** Me I’m Famous (FMIF) returns to Shimmy Beach Club this New Year’s Eve for one exclusive party that will bring you dancing into 2018 to the sounds of international superstar DJ, JP Candela, and friends. The brainchild of DJ David Guetta, FMIF is a dance music compilation turned party, held at Pacha in Ibiza, and is known as the most popular party in the world due to its sold-out status throughout the season. 2. Super Sokkie at Carnival City
Super Sokkie is bringing some of SA’s biggest Afrikaans stars to Carnival City’s Big Top Arena in Johannesburg on Sunday 31 December to usher in the new year. Catch Kurt Darren, Liezel Pieters, Refentse, Snotkop and Nádine live with songs such as Cool soos Koos Kombuis, Kaptein, Anoret, Kaapse Draai and more that will provide some awesome music to dance to. 3/4. Party with 5FM in Ballito and Clifton
This year 5FM will be hosting events; the Ballito NYE Street Party in KZN and the Secrets of Summer Clifton NYE Beach Party in Cape Town. The Ballito NYE Street party kicks off at 18:00 on Sandra Road and Crush Nightclub in Ballito with more than 30 DJs and 3 dancefloors. 5FM DJs on the decks include pH, Das Kapital and Msizi James. Other acts performing on the night include Chunda Munki, Vimo, DJ Royal Love and many more. Tickets are R250 – R400 and available via Webtickets. 

The Secrets of Summer Clifton NYE Beach Party in Cape Town gets going very early on New Year’s Eve at 11:00 at Maiden’s Cove. 5FM DJs playing the event include Roger Goode, Nick Hamman, Rob Forbes, DJ Loyd and 5FM Ultimix residents Pascal & Pearce and Ryan the DJ. Other acts include Kyle Watson, Timo ODV, Mark Stent and many more. Tickets are available from Nutickets and cost R490 for General Access and R700 for VIP. Click here for more info.


5. FACT Durban Rocks New Years Eve
Get ready for #FACT14 at Moses Mabhida Stadium’s People’s Park. Established in July 2011, this will be the 14th #FactDurbanRocks to take place at Durban’s iconic venue. Headliner, international sensation Davido, just won the best Global and Best African act at the EMAs. Local acts set to perform include Black Coffee, Cassper Nyovest, DJ Tira, Distruction Boyz and more. The party kicks off at 18:00 and tickets start at R300. 6. Vic Falls Carnival 2017
The annual Vic Falls Carnival is back this year and bigger than ever. This three-day festival includes a Unity Concert on 31 December. Jam until the sun comes up with a host of amazing artists including Tresor, the music sensation from the heart of the Congo, the kings of energetic must-dance-to live performance The Kiffness, Zambian queen of dancehall Mampi, local Vic Falls Flying Bantu and many more. 7. Get Lucky Summer NYE bash
Get Lucky Summer is set to host a special New Years Eve bash at the end of 2017. The line-up for the massive party, taking place on at the Bitou Rugby fields club on Robberg Beach, Plettenberg Bay, includes electronic group GoodLuck, Matthew Mole and the legendary Mango Groove. 8. Billy’s Beach St. Francis Bay
Party your way into 2018 the good old Billy's way., Billy’s Beach brings you Super Flu, Europe’s EDM sensation out of Germany for their first stint to South Africa, two stages, a massive bar, a Sweet Nothings take over with top local EDM and House acts. 9. Afropunk Fest
The Afropunk Fest started in the US 14 years ago and defined itself as a haven for people of all races, genders, colours, creeds and tastes. The festival is coming to SA for the first time and will take place at the end of this year on Saturday, 30 December and Sunday, 31 December. It will be bringing Solange Knowles, Laura Mvula, Anderson .Paak and a slew of other acts as headliners. Click here fore more info and to book your spot.

10. New Year’s Eve at the V&A Waterfront
On New Year’s Eve from 13:30 onwards on, local buskers and performers will entertain visitors in the lead up to a spectacular midnight fireworks display brought to the public by the V&A Waterfront and the City of Cape Town. Throughout the evening various entertainment areas will be positioned across the property, each with activities from buskers to musicians, solo artists and much more. Little ones will also be catered for, and they can expect to encounter playful characters around the Kids Ahoy playground (near the Victoria Wharf Food Court) from 17:00. Click here for more info.
