Road to STRAB
In the lead up to the STRAB music festival taking place in Mozambique, several events are taking place to get everyone excited for the fest. The Good Luck Bar in Johannesburg will be hosting one of these events on Friday featuring local acts The Shabs, Manouche, Slow Jack, The Black Cat Bones, De Wallen and The Dandies. R70 gets you in. Albert Frost
Catch the blues maestro Albert Frost at Café Roux in Noordhoek on Friday. April 2016 saw the release of his much anticipated third solo album, The Wake Up, which, according to Frost, signals the "start of a new journey" for him. In a departure from Frost’s blues roots, The Wake Up explores various musical avenues and lyrical content to create something he says will surprise and excite his fans. Tickets cost R130. Arno Carstens
Catch Arno Carstens live at The Good Luck Bar in Johannesburg on Saturday. Arno will be performing a bilingual rock show with his full band. The set includes the hits from his career as frontman of The Springbok Nude Girls, many of the beloved and most celebrated songs from his career as a platinum selling, award winning English solo artist and some popular cover tracks. Bongeziwe Mabandla
Two time SAMA nominee Bongeziwe Mabandla made waves overseas in 2014 with his perfect blend of Urban-African Folk. His heartfelt lyrics and honest delivery has seen him take to the stage in Germany at Africa Festival and at the renowned Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona in June 2014. Locally he had the opportunity to perform with both Joss Stone and Vieux Farka Toure’ on their South African tours. Catch him live at Café Roux in Noordhoek on Saturday. Tickets cost R120.
