4 music events not to be missed this weekend


Cape Town - It’s almost the weekend and if you don’t have any plans yet, then look no further!

We went in search of four awesome music events that will make your weekend even sweeter.

That Art Party
This is the official celebration for That Art Fair and is set to take place in the atrium of The Palms Décor and Lifestyle Centre in Woodstock. This event will be the Cape Town debut of afrohouse collective, Batuk – consisting of Aero Manyelo, Spoek Mathambo and Manteiga - who will be playing alongside the groove-masters John Wizards, Felix Laband, Original Swimming Party, Umlilo & DJs from Skattie. Beatenberg and Kyle Shepherd Trio
This show is taking place as part of Design Indaba and will feature an eclectic, never-before-witnessed collaboration between indie-pop artists, Beatenberg, and the jazz maestros of the Kyle Shepherd Trio. These dynamic artists have crafted a unique set for this one-night-only Design Indaba performance. The show is taking place at Artscape Theatre in Cape Town at 20:00 and tickets cost R150. Dan Patlansky
Catch some amazing blues music with Dan’s Sweet Home Africa Acoustic tour hitting The Orbit in Johannesburg on Sunday. Fans will get the chance to see him play acoustic song versions from his albums 20 Stones (2012), Wooden Thoughts (2013) and Dear Silence Thieves (2014). They will also be in for a special treat with Dan playing acoustic versions of brand new songs from his new album set for release in April 2016, as well as classic covers converted with a modernised touch of Blues and Rock influencers from the 1930s to date. Gerald Clark and the Deadmen
Catch the blues maestro at Backsberg Picnic Concerts on Sunday. Bring your friends and family to enjoy the natural surrounds, laze on the green lawns and take in the spectacular scenery as the sun sets on Backsberg. Pre-sale tickets for the concerts are available from Webtickets for R120. Tickets are also available at the gate for R150 or R60 with a valid student card. Children under 12 years get in free when accompanied by an adult. Admission to concert venue starts at 15:00, with the opening act starting at 16:00 and the main act at 17:00.
