A quick chat with Susan Boyle before her SA show

Cape Town - The day she stepped onto the Britain's Got Talent stage, Susan Boyle's life changed forever. Since then she's had experiences she previously could only dream of.

Now the 54-year-old singer can finally add South Africa to the list of places she's visited since becoming a global sensation.

The Scottish singer will be the international guest artist at the pioneering Afrikaans music concert, SuperSkouspel at the FNB Stadium this weekend.

Channel24 had a quick chat with Susan about her show in South Africa:

Except for the show, do you have any other plans for your trip to South Africa?

I would really like the opportunity to do and see as much as possible when I’m in South Africa. It’s my first ever visit to South Africa and I would love if possible to go and do a safari, try the local cuisine and have a look around Johannesburg.

Biltong, a local snack made out of dried meat and spice, is big in SA. Have you tried it or would like to try it during your visit?

No, I’ve never tried it but it sounds delicious so I would love to try biltong! I’m of the opinion that you should experience local cultures and cuisines!

Do you have any pre-show rituals you do before going on stage?

For the 2 hours before I go on stage I have hair and make-up done and vocal warm up’s. That is my time to get myself focused on my performance and make sure that my voice is sufficiently warmed up and ready to go!

What’s the one thing you always take on tour with you?

Tea bags! I love a good cup of British tea so I take my own tea bags on tour!

What song do you enjoy performing most in front of such a huge audience?

I love performing all my songs in front of an audience. The thrill of performing and making the audience happy. That’s what I love to do.

After your SA trip, what’s your next big project?

Well there will be more albums in the pipeline and also more touring! Hopefully I can bring my tour to South Africa in the future!
