Brand New Heavies join free Jazz Fest gig

Cape Town - With the 14th annual Cape Town International Jazz Festival around the corner, Capetonians will once again have the opportunity to attend a free concert in Green Market Square featuring local talent playing alongside one of this year's international headlining acts.

The free concert will take place on Wednesday 3 April from 17:00 to 23:00 and will feature UK acid jazz group the Brand New Heavies.

They will be joined by one of South Africa's jazz greats Jimmy Dludlu as well as winner of the popular local Open Mic Jazz Vocal competition Candice Thornton, Cape Town pop star Jimmy Nevis and the St Joseph's Marist School band.

Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter and actress Jill Scott is set to perform at this year's Cape Town International Jazz Festival which takes place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) on 4 and 5 April.

Tickets are available from Computicket outlets, Shoprite Checkers outlets and via the Computicket website.

The ticket prices are as follows: day passes cost R440 and weekend passes are R645. There are a limited number of weekend passes. Rosies Stage tickets are R30 per performance and can only be purchased together with a day or weekend pass.
