Cape Town gets 3rd Santana show

Cape Town - Big Concerts announced on Thursday that due to exceptional demand, a third and final Santana Cape Town date has been added for Thursday 27 February 2014 at the Grand Arena, GrandWest.

According to Big Concerts CEO Attie Van Wyk they "were not too surprised with the overwhelming demand given the fact that Santana has a career that spans over 45 years of hit-songs which he will perform live".

"We are very pleased that we were able to negotiate an additional performance and we urge fans to get their tickets now to avoid disappointment," he added.

Santana will also be performing on Tuesday 25 February and Wednesday 26 February 2014 at the Grand Arena, GrandWest Cape Town and Saturday 1 March 2014 at FNB Stadium, Johannesburg.

Carlos Santana, 66, became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band, Santana, which pioneered a fusion of rock and Latin American music.

Among many honours, he received the Billboard Latin Music Awards 2009 Lifetime Achievement honour as well as the Billboard Century Award in 1996.

Having sold over 100 million records to date Santana has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and is listed in the top 20 greatest guitarists of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine.

Currently Santana is headlining at a multi-year residency at House of Blues at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas and on 8 December Carlos Santana will be the recipient of the 2013 Kennedy Center Honours Award.
