DJ Dean Fuel takes on Channel24's quickie

Cape Town – It’s almost time for the 21st MCQP event in Cape Town on Saturday, 20 December.

Dress up in your coolest Royal Navy themed costume to celebrate the occasion along with thousands of other partygoers at the Cape Town City Hall and Grand Parade.

It's going to be a day filled with music, dance and pageantry. A number of emcees, including Lola Fine and DJs from UCT Radio and MFM will be welcoming guests on the pink carpet. The gates open at 17:00.

Local DJ and producer, DJ Dean Fuel will be at this year’s MCQP and Channel24 did a quickie with the superstar DJ.

A Channel24 quickie is a brief or spontaneous episode consisting of five frisky questions in which celebs and Channel24 have a brief frolic leaving all parties involved feeling satisfied and craving a cigarette.

1) You’re performing at your 10th MCQP! Which one stands out for you as the most memorable?

So many to think of... I loved playing at the Ratanga Junction venue - very cool use of the space! The Stadium has also been brilliant over the years, and even the CTICC made for an epic party! I would probably have to say that my first event was my most memorable, as I had no idea what to expect - and was blown away!

2) This year’s theme is Royal Navy. Have you ever found yourself wearing a sailor outfit and why?

I’ve dressed like a pilot, a ninja, a barbarian, a cowboy, a cop, but never a sailor (I sound like a member of the Village People, haha!) …. of course there is a first time for everything.

3) What did you do for your 21st birthday?

Being a DJ, I played at many of my friends 21st parties, so when it came to mine I took it chilled …. dinner and cocktails with family and close friends. We did go out partying later of course - and I ended up at home being forced into a shower (fully clothed I believe) by my sister as I was “TOO” wasted.

4) What’s your favourite song to play at MCQP?

Depends - every year I try work in a suitable track for the theme. One year I even made my own special bootleg edit of Madonna, Belinda Carlisle and a few other massive tracks as an opener. Another year I opened with The Big Bad Wolf (fairytale theme I believe), and then last year I opened with Avicii’s Hey Brother for the cowboy theme. I always tailor the set to be new, fresh, and fun! I want the crowd to feel connected, and to go a little bit crazy! If they do I have down my job!

5) If you could go on a boat cruise with 5 celebrities who would it be?

Hmm..celeb questions I hate these! I suppose it depends on the definition of “celeb” - no Kardashians for me! I’d pick Kate Moss, Colin Farrell, Deadmau5, Keith Richards, and Candice Nethercott. A mix between eye candy, interesting stories and being up for a party!
