Eric Clapton to celebrate 70th birthday at Madison Square Garden

New York - Eric Clapton will celebrate his 70th birthday with two shows at Madison Square Garden in May.

The iconic guitarist announced on Thursday that he will perform at the famed New York City venue on 1 and 2 May. He turns 70 on 30 March.

Clapton, a former member of the Yardbirds and Cream, has performed at MSG more than 40 times.

Clapton will be accompanied by his band members Paul Carrack, Steve Gadd, Nathan East, Chris Stainton, Sharon White and Michelle John at the MSG shows.

The concert dates could change due to the NBA playoffs.
