Cape Town - An exciting new all-female music event, Her ROCK Fest, launches in Johannesburg on 1 May at RUMOURS Lounge in Weltevredenpark.

Her ROCK Fest is the first of a series of live music events which will feature SA’s top female music artists with each event celebrating a different genre of music. The first edition will celebrate some of the top female rock artists in SA with a very entertaining mixture of acoustic, punk, alternative and mainstream rock sounds from eight great female acts.

Each event promises to celebrate a night of "Her Music… Her Friends… Her Fest"!

According to1st Friday founder Kerry Knowles, "this event is all about creating a platform for HER. We have amazing talent in this country so why not create an alternative space for HER to perform. HER music event no matter if you are Gay or Straight, we want to celebrate HER music - HER friends - HER day. So for all you Rocker boys, best you put on HER makeup and join HER if you want to come and play on 1 May. With over 8000 1st Friday members, we initially focused on only providing a safe environment for the Gay Women market for the last 9 years, however we now want to create a platform for specialised Women events."
