Flabba's girlfriend granted R10k bail

Cape Town – Sindisiwe Manqele was granted bail of R10 000 on Monday following the stabbing of popular rapper and Skwatta Kamp member Nkululeko "Flabba" Habedi.

The bail application of the accused was heard in the Alexandra Magistrates Court on Monday.

Manqele claimed that she acted in self-defence and that she has evidence that she was attacked.

Her lawyer handed in a doctor’s report which found evidence of deep tissue injuries caused by blunt force trauma.

The state has opposed bail on the grounds that the accused is a danger to herself and could interfere with witnesses, as she knew them well.

The state also described how family members heard Flabba screaming for help saying that he had been stabbed by her.

Reports confirmed on Sunday that Manqele cut herself in front of police after being questioned about where she got the knife.

The state argued that Manqele is exaggerating some of her injuries – some of which she has admitted was self-inflicted.

Manqele’s lawyer protested, saying there are no witnesses to the stabbing and the state’s case isn’t strong enough. The accused is not a flight risk and will hand over her passport.

Her lawyer also admitted to cutting herself on the arms: "It was an emotional reaction on her path."
