Florence Welch stops fight at gig

Los Angeles - Florence Welch halted a gig to tackle a fight in the crowd.

The Florence + the Machine singer stopped her rendition of Shake It Out when she saw a girl crying in the audience at the Exhibition and Conference Centre in Aberdeen, Scotland, on Sunday.

She asked: "Are you OK my love?"

Florence, 26, then jumped off the stage barefoot and climbed into the crowd to tackle the troublemakers and comfort the girl distressed by the violence.

'Just sort it out and be friends'

Though the audience booed the disruption, she said she couldn't continue through the disruption when she climbed back on stage, saying: "I can't sing this song while there is a fight going on in front of me.

"It doesn't matter who is right or wrong, just sort it out and be friends. I feel like a teacher."

One audience member said the singer was like a "United Nations [UN] envoy" in the way she confronted the problem.

The source told the Daily Star newspaper: "You don't expect the talent to have to act as a bouncer as well. But it was typical Florence - unpredictable and ready for anything.

"She was like a UN envoy, only better. There were some tough people there, but she was prepared to risk it. She proved she really cares about her fans."
