London - British singer James Blunt was joking when he told Italian TV he would be playing the organ at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, his spokesperson said on Wednesday.
"James has a keen sense of humour and this was a joke," the spokesperson said.
Asked about the British royal wedding during a concert tour stop in Italy, Blunt told news channel SkyTG24: "I'm actually playing. I'm not singing, I'm playing the church organ there."
Blunt achieved rapid fame with his first album Back to Bedlam in 2005 including the international hit single You're Beautiful.
Before launching a singing career, he was a British army officer and served under NATO in the Kosovo conflict in 1999.
The official list of musicians performing at the April 29 wedding in Westminster Abbey was unveiled on Tuesday, with a strong theme of traditional choral and military music.
