Justin Bieber SA tour confirmed

2012-12-04 07:19
Cape Town - Big Concerts have announced that Canadian pop star Justin Bieber will be bringing his Believe tour to South Africa for two stadium shows in May 2013.

Gareth Cliff finally put the rumours to rest on his 5FM Breakfast show on Tuesday morning.

Justin Bieber, who at just 18 years of age is the biggest name in pop, is set to perform at Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday 8 May before moving on to for a show at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday 12 May 2013.

Tickets sales will again be split for the two cities over two days to avoid high traffic congestion on Computicket.

Tickets for the Joburg show will go on sale at 09:00 on Monday 10 December via Big Concerts and Computicket (web, outlets and call centres) and on Tuesday the 11th for Cape Town fans.

Prices range from R315 – R750 for the Joburg show and from R315 – R700 for Cape Town.

While this will be Justin's first live performances in SA, he was on holiday here in October 2010 and went on safari at Idube Game Reserve.

With over 15 million album unit sales, 48 million Facebook fans, 3 billion Youtube hits and 30 million Twitter followers, Justin is a social media phenomenon.

In June 2012 he released his third studio album Believe, which spawned hit songs such as As Long as You Love Me, Boyfriend and Beauty and a Beat featuring Nicki Minaj.

  • conrad.holtzhausen - 2012-12-04 09:53

Wasn't Justin Bieber the girl that played in I am Sam?? When did she start a singing career?

  • grant.logan.94 - 2012-12-04 11:35

Would rather go to a Justin Bieber concert than a screaming Linkin Park event. Don't know whats with all the Justin hate. So you didn't hit the big time in your teens, he's not to blame for that!

      jaysonpaul.beckwith - 2012-12-04 14:46

Dude,,,, are you for real,,,, Linkin park vs justin bieber. Are you serious????

  • marius.olivier.7 - 2012-12-04 11:49

Take all the Justin Bieber albums ever sold, multiply it by 6 and he still hasn't reached Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" album sales. That puts things a bit into perspective

      martin.gee.godfrey - 2012-12-04 13:16

      And never will

  • neon.crazyfield - 2012-12-04 11:56

      lynnmoore1234 - 2012-12-04 20:22

      Are you THAT desperate??????

  • terence.makapan - 2012-12-04 12:34

Am I the only one who finds it crazy that this little punk who has been around for about 4/5 years, has 3 albums and no grammys, gets to charge R750 for tickets???

      martin.gee.godfrey - 2012-12-04 12:47

He doesn't charge those prices, Big Concerts set the prices based on the cost of bringing him here. Remember they would have budgeted his tour at about R8.00 to the $ and his record label don't reduce their profit just because we have a weak currency. Having said that, it is still exhorbitant and this is one time I am glad that Big Concerts give Durban a miss!

      grant.logan.94 - 2012-12-04 13:49

What does a grammy have to do with ticket prices? Having a grammy to your name doesn't mean you can sell out stadiums.

      lynnmoore1234 - 2012-12-04 20:21

F*#k thats the price of a good few cases of Quarts - from which I and mine will have far more satisfaction.....

      eurikarob - 2012-12-05 00:04

He worked for what he has what have you achieved????

  • martin.gee.godfrey - 2012-12-04 12:41

I'm hoping Steve Hofmeyer buys up all the tickest and throws them in the Jukskei, I mean hey, what's good enough for U2 is good enough for Justine Bieber...

      julian.booyens - 2012-12-04 14:00

Maby Steve Hofmeyer will be the opening act

      martin.gee.godfrey - 2012-12-04 14:12

Hahahaha Julian, I doubt it, even Steve Hofmeyer has some standards!

  • jared.dauth - 2012-12-04 13:17

Not a good idea. His bad publicity out weighs his fan base here. By bad publicity I mean people who tune him. I feel sorry for the guy, but when he comes here I think more eggs will be thrown at him, unfortunately.

  • martiejvr - 2012-12-04 13:23

Why are all the shows just there, and not in Durban to,we have all these amazing places to have concerts but its never held here jus in CP & JHB.........WHY WHY WHY????

      martin.gee.godfrey - 2012-12-04 14:24

Simply because Big Concerts have taken Durban off of thier map. Largley due to low ticket sales and being unable to fill out the stadium and that KZN audiences usually wait till the last minute to buy tickets. However, when Neil Diamond came here recently, (not brought in by Big Concerts) he sold out the Mose Mabhida stadium. Durban doesn't feature in Big Concerts business strategy any more.

      motlalepula.sompane - 2012-12-04 14:30

because he's not a zulu singer?

  • eurikarob - 2012-12-04 23:59

Awesome, cannot wait my son has been doing the Justin songs since he was 3 will be 8 when Justin performs in JHB. Going to Bonjovi night before. Lets combine the 2 and have one hell of a party.
