Kendrick Lamar confirms new Dr Dre collaboration

Los Angeles - Kendrick Lamar is collaborating with Dr Dre on his new album.

The 26-year-old rapper has confirmed the hip-hop legend has been helping him record his third LP, following on from Dre executive producing Kendrick's last album, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, in 2012.

He told KUBE 93's Nessa: "Dr Dre is focused like he always been. He focused on music, man."

Dre recently signed a $3m Beats deal with Apple, and although business is important to the rap mogul, Kendrick insists his mentor's main focus will always be music.

He added: "One thing about Dre, you can't take the music away. No matter how much money he has, he's always gonna be right there in that studio.

"That's before the deal, after the deal. He's always locked in there. That's something that I know personally."

Kendrick's new album is expected to drop later this year.

The Compton rapper previously admitted he couldn't wait to get in the studio with Dre when he first found out his musical idol wanted to work with him.

He enthused: "I was very excited. I wasn't nervous at all. I was more excited, 'cause I knew that this was my shot, everything that l've worked for, everything I've built up to came down to that moment."
