Lady Gaga goes wild on SA safari

2012-12-03 09:42
Cape Town - Lady Gaga shared pics on Twitter of her roaming with lions while on safari in South Africa, and raved about her experience performing in Johannesburg.

The 26-year-old pop queen is in South Africa for her first tour here and showed her wild side by getting close to a pride of lions in the wild.

"SAFARI PICTURE: in this photo I'm about 10 feet from 13 lions, 2 cubs. I spent about 30 minutes w them and took a nap!" she tweeted on Saturday.

In the pic, Gaga – whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta – can be seen wearing a sunhat with the top removed to accommodate her high ponytail.

"& yes I cut a hole in my bush hat so my pony could stick out," she later told her nearly 32 million followers. "#SafariBarbie #Glambi my scarf was a gift from the Princess of Monaco, thanku!"

On Friday Gaga became the first solo female artist to perform a concert at the FNB Stadium, putting on a two and half hour concert for approximately 65 000 screaming fans.

Later on Saturday she tweeted:

At one point during her Johannesburg show, Gaga told the crowd: "I am not an alien, I am not a woman, I am not a man, I am not a creature of your government, South Africa. I am you!"

The controversial singer has been the subject of protests by the South African Council of Churches who marched to the department of Arts and Culture in Pretoria, saying they are worried about the "destructive impact" Lady Gaga can have on South Africa's youth.

Lady Gaga will next perform at the Cape Town Stadium on Monday.

If Gaga was the devil, don't you think she would've been prettier?

      preshen.govender.12382 - 2012-12-03 12:16

She should have worn the meat dress for the safari

      vambozha.vanmutemi - 2012-12-03 14:51

..then she should have been 10mm from the 13 lions' grinding teeth

      louwhan.hoffmann - 2012-12-03 16:17

I like the Fatty Boom boom safari better.

      tooka.loosh.5 - 2012-12-03 18:27

She looks like a frigging Freak!.

      ab.normal.961 - 2012-12-03 21:25

No wonder she is always in costume with funky make-up, hiding her real face, she is damn ugly.

      sandra.j.rennie - 2012-12-04 23:21

There is no way Gaga could have a destructive influence on our youth ever. Our youth are bad enough as it is ! They would actually be destructive towards her !!!

  • richard.hipkin - 2012-12-03 10:01

    LMLWAO@Council of Churches.. seriously??

      sandra.j.rennie - 2012-12-04 23:24

Must be the NG Church, you know the lot that actually ran the country pre 1994. They have buggerall to do the whole bloody day, but cause nonsense. I am not a lady Gaga fan, but those who like her and want to see her, so what's so wrong about that. ! I never heard the Council of Churches make an issue of Kurt Darren et al !

  • boom.afridi.56 - 2012-12-03 10:08

what is so satinistic about this gaga? seems like a normal singer to me.

      johan.mostert.967 - 2012-12-03 15:16

Yes, but what ever church goers don't like get a Satan stamp.

  • piet.hannibol - 2012-12-03 10:20

That satan spawn is seriously unattractive when not fixed up by photoshop.

      dragonfire47 - 2012-12-03 10:38

      ugh shame hey, so insecure

      wesley.bischoff - 2012-12-03 10:50

Aw poor man is so insecure, he has to insult other people to make himself feel good. Shame

      klippies.coke.7 - 2012-12-03 10:58

Wow Piet, not all of us can be so angelic and pretty as you

      lydonmcg - 2012-12-03 11:11

It says much when someone is too ashamed to put an actual photo of himself as his profile photo on Facebook...

      eben.genis.9 - 2012-12-03 14:10

Satan Spawn?? Dude.. think you should call your mother that...

      piet.hannibol - 2012-12-03 15:19

      Satanspawn...... Satanspawn.... Ugly!

      chantal.lawrieross - 2012-12-03 16:58

I also thought she was unattractive until i went to watch her in JHB and she is actually gorgeous in real life and all those ppl that think she is Satan must get a life. She promoted love and unity the whole concert. I liked her before the concert but now im a fan for life after watching her perform. She deserves to be the star she is and I hope she outshines every other popstar cos she deserves it. She is humble, intelligent, talented and REAL believe it or not.

  • ari.potah - 2012-12-03 10:51

Churches are fast becoming outmoded. They HAVE to say something simply in order to be seen. Nobody really cares about church any more anyway.

      wesley.bischoff - 2012-12-03 11:01

      Thank F**k for that...

      christoffvstaden - 2012-12-03 15:37

Yip, and stop paying attention to them - they have absolutely nothing to offer. Not even worth talking about them - we have bigger fish to fry!

      beryl.knipe - 2012-12-04 04:24

Ari - you are right in "some" ways:

  • Ryan - 2012-12-03 10:59

she was awesome on Friday, i was not a big fan before Friday, she created lady Gaga out of being bullied at school. she is probably one of the best stars to ever come to SA - so open and caring about others.

      shaun.mossop.3 - 2012-12-03 12:11

Never been a fan but, watched a few interviews with her and wow she is brilliant.

      mark.ross.779 - 2012-12-03 12:50

I agree 100%. Wasn't a big fan, but went anyway and jeez... amazing show! You can see how hard they've worked on that thing. Was worth every Rand.

      di.hingley - 2012-12-03 13:53

I agree with you Ryan, I was blown away by her performance.

  • christoffvstaden - 2012-12-03 11:01

After all the hype from SACC the show went on! Much ado about nothing...

  • chez.kri - 2012-12-03 11:07

No wonder Americans have such a warped idea of our country. Someone should have told her that she is not on safari; that was just the lion park in Joburg.

      leila.monroe - 2012-12-03 14:29

Wasn't at the Lion park in Jhb actually...

      christoffvstaden - 2012-12-03 15:31

Yip. No way can one be that close to lions, unless they have been tamed...

      chez.kri - 2012-12-04 08:32

@Leila. So maybe not the lion park but those are semi-tame lions. it was not exactly the kruger park or some such game park.

  • diana.gill.18 - 2012-12-03 14:22

If only she dropped her usually stupid and tasteless style... She looked and performed much better when singing Lady is a tramp with Tony Bennett. Why shouldnt she be her normal self?

L.Ron.Hubbard, fictional writer and religious leader of "Scientology" says-"Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous. If a man really wants to make a million dollars, the best way would be to start his own religion."

      eben.genis.9 - 2012-12-03 15:12

      True words..

  • vambozha.vanmutemi - 2012-12-03 14:57

      christoffvstaden - 2012-12-03 15:35

      You lucky bugger...

  • louise.patterton - 2012-12-03 15:35

Gaga is donating $US 500 000 towards hunger relief in Africa....yet the religious nuts can only complain. What have YOU done lately, holy superior you??

  • brendan.oconnell.545 - 2012-12-03 15:41

Phew she ain't pretty in real life ... Much prefer her with all the make up on :)

  • ivan.vanheerden.3 - 2012-12-03 15:49

I think it's hypocritical that the South african council of Churches doesn't march in protest of the "destructive impact" president Zuma and the rest of the thieving mob that is the ANC have on the youth of South Africa.

      christoffvstaden - 2012-12-03 16:02

Bite the hand that feeds you? Politics and religion go hand in hand...

  • anika.theunis - 2012-12-03 15:51

she was definitely hit with the ugly stick twice..

  • anika.theunis - 2012-12-03 15:52

she was definitely hit with the ugly stick more than once

  • Katoolsie - 2012-12-03 16:18

Sweet mother of god that bitch is ugly!

  • h3smit - 2012-12-03 16:56

well 65000 fans (me one of them as well) proves that the "ministry of churches (sound like a super villain HQ to me) are greatly outshined. so go march you march of shame in pretoria (of all places, really!) as what i saw on friday had nothing to do with your silly religion or any aspect of it. boom. done. i said it.

  • h3smit - 2012-12-03 17:00

i really think a crowd of 65000 fans at FNB stadium (i was there as well) really out shines this "ministry of churches" (which sounds like a super villain HQ) march in pretoria (really! of all places) by far... and just to mention on seeing the show myself there was NOTHING threatening your silly religions or beliefs... boom! i said it.

  • JOHNY63 - 2012-12-03 17:30

Not good looking at all. Poor thing. Will not be a good feast for the lions. They will starve. Don't know why people rave about her.

      jack.trend.3 - 2012-12-03 18:37

you are not exactly good looking yourself.

  • phillip.mtshweni.39 - 2012-12-03 18:46

She's just evil finish n klaar

  • billy.baker1 - 2012-12-03 21:24

Lady Gaga is not the problem. It is us as South Africans who have become so morrally backward, that our children (I saw children aged 12 dressed like Gaga tonight outside Cape Town stadium) daughters, girl friends and mothers dressed like sluts for the fun of it. And the we moan about our babies and women folk being raped and murdered We as a society not Gaga are destroying our own nation, dont blame it on crime we are getting what GOD promised in Deuteronomy 28.

      gungets.tuft - 2012-12-04 05:38

Oh dear Billy. You realise that you have just said that women contribute to their being raped by their actions. Do you realise just how truly archaic that is. You don't hate violence against women - YOU CELEBRATE IT!! .. because it backs up your version of religion and your retarded view of women in society. And your god promised rape and murder. Nice. I can't wait to go to church and thank this god of yours for her love and mercy. Actually, no, your god must be a man.

      FloorWizPro - 2012-12-04 11:37

Honestly. Worships a cult that has a nasty character in it that exterminated all living things by drowning and then points fingers. That cracks me up every time.

      koos.vandermerwe.75 - 2012-12-05 07:49

Why do you get on Billy's case when he has a very good point Gungets? You know what you should do, you should learn the African language that is spoken in your area then go to some of the less affluent spots in your area and hear what the other side of the coin sais about woman especially after a few beers. When you hear reference to "white bread" it is not always reference to white bread my friend. You judge based on European notions, standards and concepts BUT this is not Europe. Some days it is really not nice to know what they say and what woman put out there is indeed advertisement whether you like it or not. @FloorWizPro: I'm intrigued. What do you believe in when you don't believe in anything? If you don't believe in anything is there a right and a wrong and by what guidelines would that be judged? Just as an example: Some believe in corrective rape. How can they be wrong if that is what they believe? So are they indeed wrong and by who's standards? The thing is you believe in something even if you don't want to admit it. There will always be a right and a wrong it is just the boundaries that needs to be defined.

  • skiapas - 2012-12-04 00:14
