Nhlanhla shines everywhere

Cape Town - March is turning out to be an exciting and busy time for Mafikizolo’s Nhlanhla Nciza, City Press reported.

Last week, the dates for the group’s Reunited Tour were announced, which will see the multiaward-winning Mafikizolo performing six shows around the country from the middle of March.

Nciza has also been announced as one of the designers showing at the autumn/winter Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Melrose Arch next weekend.

Nciza says the tour is called the Reunited Tour after the group’s 2013 album of the same name, which earned them great success.

Nciza adds that the show will be special: "We have a 16-piece band. It’s a show with 20 dancers joining us on stage. It’ll be huge."

Ten percent of the proceeds from the tour will be donated to the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

About the relaunch of her label, NN Vintage, on the runways of one of the biggest fashion events in the country, she says: "I am a little nervous. The last time we showed NN Vintage was in 2008."

NN Vintage’s style is inspired by fabrics that Nciza sees and collects during her travels.

"Our look is modern, urban African … and since the inspiration is Africa, part of the plan for NN Vintage is to take it all over the rest of the continent." – Gugulethu Mhlungu
