Noel Gallagher pulls a Kanye and disses Taylor Swift and other musos

Los Angeles - Noel Gallagher has blasted Taylor Swift's songwriting skills.

The 47-year-old rocker thinks modern pop music is "fucking awful" and slammed suggestions the Blank Space hitmaker is talented, suggesting she is nothing more than "a nice girl".

Asked what he thinks about people praising the 25-year-old singer for being a good songwriter, he said: "Who says that? Her parents?

"Who's 'people'? Name these people. You're fucking lying. She seems like a nice girl, but no one has ever said those words, and you fucking know it."

The former Oasis star also has "difficulties" with a lot of other artists, including One Direction and Maroon 5.

He told Rolling Stone magazine: "I know Harry Styles. We've hung out a couple of times. They're lovely lads. But I've got to say, I have difficulties with people who don't write their own songs, who've got a team of songwriters who work for your record label.

"Modern pop music is bland nonsense. There isn't even a word yet that's capable of describing it. If it was a colour, it would be beige. Do you know what colour beige is? It's like a milky brown. Not for me."

Noel also believes Maroon 5 have tattoos to distract people from their music.

The outspoken rocker has taken aim at the Animals hitmakers by saying they only have fans because people are distracted by their handsome looks and inkings, unlike his old band Oasis who he thinks people liked purely because they released great tracks.

He said: "If your songs are OK, then your songs will seem better if you look good - like those fuckwits from Maroon 5. The tattoos take your mind off the fact that they're shit. OK? Right? But with Oasis, it was 'God those fuckin' songs are great'. It's all about the music."

But Noel insists he doesn't hate everyone in the music industry.

Asked about Bono, he said: 'Of all the people I know, he's the most fun to hang out with, for sure. He's a funny fucker, and he can drink. And he's got big ideas - for his band and for my music as well, which is astonishing. He's always giving me titles for songs and albums. I call him Father Bono."

He also admitted he is fond of rapper Kanye West because he feels like they have similar characteristics, despite his brother Liam Gallagher recently branding him "Utter Shit".

He told Vogue magazine: "I like him because I think he's very very entertaining. I like his interviews—they're nearly as good as mine - and I liked the look of [his Brits performance]. I think it's best listened to with the sound down, though. I do like Black Skinhead - I think that track is amazing - and I do like him because I think he's slightly otherworldly, but I wouldn't say I'm a super fan of his music." publishes all comments posted on articles provided that they adhere to our Comments Policy.
