Professor in court over police uniform

Johannesburg - A kwaito musician charged with wearing a metro police uniform to the Metro FM Music Awards will appear in the Durban Regional Court on Thursday.

Mkhonzeni "Professor" Langa faces charges of impersonating a police officer, possession of a police uniform, and wearing a police uniform, at the event on Saturday.

He allegedly told police he took his cousin's eThekwini metro police uniform without his knowledge. Langa contacted the metro police on Monday and made a statement on Tuesday.

According to the SAPS Act of 1995 it is an offence for anyone not a police officer to wear a uniform without permission.
