Quincy Jones recovering after being rushed to hospital

Los Angeles - Quincy Jones is recovering after being rushed to hospital on Thursday.

The 82-year-old music producer was taken by ambulance to a local medical facility near his Bel-Air home after suffering shortness of breath but he is said to be "fine'.

His representative told TMZ: "Quincy is fine. He had some shortness of breath and in an abundance of caution he went in for observation. He is fine though."

The website first reported that Quincy suffered severe chest pains and was brought to hospital at around 13:20.

A Los Angeles fire department spokeswoman confirmed an ambulance had been called to the address.

She said; "At 13:20 we received a call for unspecified medical aid. She added that an ambulance transported one patient".

Quincy - who produced many of Michael Jackson's albums including Bad and Thriller - previously admitted he freaked out when he heard of the icon's death from acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009.

He said; "I freaked out. You know, I couldn't believe it. No, it was heavy. Really heavy. Because, boy, the relationship with a producer and an artist is really special. And there's no room for B.S. at all.

"It's got to be pure. It's got to be love and respect, amazing mutual respect for each other, because that's what makes a good record. When they trust each other, and you tell them to jump without a net, boy, you better know what you're talking about."
