2013-07-11 13:55
Cape Town - BET nominee Toya Delazy has announced that she will be looking for a crew of dancers, musicians and singers which will make up Team Delazy. They will tour with Delazy for six months and the auditions will be held in Cape Town at a secret location on 17 and 18 July.

"Team Delazy will get the opportunity to travel the country and perform on stages across the continent. Who knows, we might even go international," said Delazy.

"It's important to identify and build the great talent we have at home, and that's why I'm holding these auditions. I want everyone to have a fair chance, and to know that no matter where you’re from, if you believe in your skills it will take you places."

No stopping Delazy

Hailing from Zululand, Toya Delazy received her training in Jazz piano and was signed by Sony Music Africa in 2011. Since then she has won many SAMA awards as well as getting a nomination for Best International Act: Africa at the Los Angeles BET Awards.

The auditions will be judged by Delazy herself, her choreographer Bash The Beast, backing vocalist Mary Scary, Coca-Cola Popstars judge Anthony Morgan and artist directors Capello and Thapelo Lekoane. Applicants need to e-mail Delazy at auditions@delazy.com by 12 July. Click through to her website for more details.

Is she going to learn how to sing first? Without the help of layers of voice effects and autotune

Best of luck to her. If you do not try you will not know. South Africa needs people who try, not politicians who buy!
