We had a quickie with up-and-coming SA muso Carla Conradie

Cape Town – We just love to discover new talent here at Channel24, and Carla Conradie is definitely an up-and-coming artist to watch out for.

Carla, who is still relatively new on the music scene, has been invited to play at the Cape Town Folk & Acoustic Music festival this Saturday, 30 August at the Baxter Theatre. Tickets for the show have unfortunately sold out.

Influenced by offbeat artists such as Florence and the Machine, Ellie Goulding, Coldplay, Tailor, Alicia Keys, Grimes, Lana Del Rey and Hayley Williams, Carla, who has completed three years of studying at COPA (Campus of Performing Arts), is getting increased recognition for her original compositions.

Carla will release her new single Spit It Out in September and a full-length album early next year.

We got to ask Carla a few questions ahead of her performance this weekend, check it out here:

Channel24:
Have you played the Folk ‘n Acoustic music festival before? Are you looking forward to playing this year and why?

Carla:
No, this is my first time playing at the Folk 'n Acoustic music festival. I am so excited to be part of this event. To share a stage with such talented and established musicians is quite an honour.

Channel24:
The theme for the Folk Fest this year is ‘Collaborations’. Who are you collaborating with and what can people expect to hear?

Carla:
I'm performing with Evelyn Hart. There's a magical element in both the songs we have chosen. Expect to hear strong melodic songs that will take you on a journey.

Channel24:
If you could collaborate with any international artist in the world, who would it be?

Carla:
Wow, where do I start... To be able to collaborate with Chris Martin from Coldplay would be incredible.

Channel24:
What’s the one thing no one knows about you?

Carla:
Although I love performing and meeting new people, I'm actually an introvert.

Channel24:
What’s next for you?

Carla:
I'm working with film company Imagenheart on a short film/music video with three of my songs. We've launched an Indiegogo campaign to assist with funding and it’s set to happen in September. This music video and my album launch are the two next steps in my career.
