All the beautiful people at Littlegig 2018

Johannesburg - The Wiesenhof farm outside Stellenbosch hosted the annual Littlegig 24-hour festival last weekend.

A utopia for well-heeled guests, this year included social media personalities and celebrities such as TV presenter Bonnie Mbuli, radio deejay and journalist Shado Twala, TV and radio personality Bridget Masinga, Kaya FM managing director Greg Maloka, rapper Reason, TV and radio personality Loot Love and designer Rich Mnisi.

The tickets, at R2 150 each, included all-you-can-eat sumptuous gourmet food like lamb ribs, pancakes, tiffin tins with butter chicken and jasmine rice and 10-veg crystal rolls. Also included were premium spirits, craft beer, wine, cocktails, Champagne, artisanal gin and whisky.

Littlegig is seen as a heaven for fashion and artistic expression. There was a free make-up and hair station where festival-goers could get glittered up and beautified. A concept store sold fashion-forward festival pieces.

Artists performing at the event included Umlilo and the Stash Crew, Bongeziwe Mabandla, Black Motion, Nonku Phiri, Samthing Soweto and Kenya’s “Blinky” Bill Sellanga.

The show that stole the night, however, was the performance collective Dear Ribane, who did an electronic gig with spectacular avant-garde outfits and carefully coordinated dance moves.

With 10 bars and six stages (including a forest stage and island stage near a dam), guests could dance, sit or relax in hammocks surrounded by conceptual art and copper bowls of fruit.

There was a “free store” to get toothbrushes, deodorant, sunscreen, wet wipes and hair ties, sweets, chips and biltong.

This is by far South Africa’s most luscious, over-the-top boutique festival, reserved for the fashionable and beautiful who can afford it.
