Cape Town - Local artist Anatii has been nominated for a Soul Train Award alongside Beyoncé for his contribution to the hit song, Brown Skin girl which was featured in Beyoncé’s latest album, Lion King: The Gift.
According to Billboard he has been nominated for the Ashford and Simpson’s songwriter’s award for the song which featured Wizkid, Blue Ivy Carter and Saint Jhn. The Thixo Onefefe hitmaker also composed the track Mood Forever which featured Jay Z and Childish Gambino.
In July, local artists Anatii, DJ Lag, Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly flew South Africa’s flag high when they were featured on Beyoncé’s highly anticipated album. Rapper Anatii – whose real name is Anathi Mnyango – is being recognised as one of the composers of Brown Skin Girl which prompted the viral #BrownSkinGirlChallenge.

On the day of the album release, Anatii showed his gratitude on Instagram with the caption:
"Blessings come down! Enkosi Beyoncé. Big up to the incredible team behind The Gift. The energy was pure, the cultural shift has begun! Umthandazo uyasebenza."
The award ceremony is set to take place in Las Vegas on November 17.
