As promised, Gauteng gets a free Fokof show!

Cape Town - Almost two months ago Fokofpolisiekar launched a crowdfunding campaign via Thundafund to raise money to record a new full length album by making choice items and experiences available to their fans.

On Thursday, Fokofpolisiekar’s crowdfunding was just over the R750 000 mark. This is well over the band’s initial dream goal of R500 000 which was famously shattered in just 9 days. After the dream goal was met, the band made a pledge to their fans that if they reach R700 000, they would play a free show in Cape Town and if they hit R800 000, they would play a free show in Gauteng.

Lush Festival just made the pledge for one of the two ‘Fokofpolisiekar event’ options on their Thundafund page, catapulting the amount pledged to R857 550, with 9 days left of the campaign.

This means that the band will be performing at Lush Festival in 2018 (29 March – 1 April)… and that Gauteng fans can get themselves ready for a FREE Fokofpolisiekar show!

More information about Gauteng’s free show will follow soon, but in the meantime Capetonian fans are brimming of excitement for their free show at Mercury Live on Thursday, 25 May. The doors will open at 19:00 and will work on a first-come first-served basis as the venue’s capacity can hold 400 people. The show will start at 21:00.

Meanwhile it is crunch time for the band to conclude the writing of their first full length album in 11 years before they go to studio for the recording. If all goes well, the album will be mixed in July, pre-orders will go live in September and the album will be released in the beginning of October 2017.
