Avicii's family thank fans for support after his death

New York — The family of Avicii thanked his fans for their support days following the superstar DJ's death.

Avicii's family said in a statement - released on Monday - that they are grateful for his fans around the world who loved his music and are thankful "for the support and the loving words."

Avicii, born Tim Bergling, was found dead on Friday in Muscat, Oman. Details about his death have not been revealed as yet but police sources say there was reportedly no criminal suspicion at this time.

The Grammy-nominated Swedish performer received a number of tributes over at concerts and Coachella, ranging from acts like Nick Jonas to Kygo to Tiesto and Black Coffee. Stockholm fans observed a minute of silence in his honour on Saturday.

Avicii's hits include Wake Me Up and Le7els. He had in the past suffered acute pancreatitis, in part due to excessive drinking.
