Johannesburg - The Black Eyed Peas are back, but one member short, according to People Magazine.

The group released their first single in eight years, titled Big Love, on Wednesday and have promised fans that an album is coming.

However, their new music will not feature female leader singer Fergie – who quit the band in 2017 in order to focus on her solo projects.

Despite her departure,, who remains in the group alongside Apl de ap and Taboo, says there is no bad blood or resentment towards the mom-of-one.

“Fergie is family,” Apl de ap told Rolling Stone earlier this year. “Family is family, right? So…” chimed in, “Yeah, that don’t… never change, “Apl de ap added.

In the meantime the group is focused on promoting their latest single, which tackles issues ranging from “gun violence, police brutality, race relations and the effects of social media.”

Big Love is their first single off their highly anticipated Masters of the Sun album which drops on 12 October. It’s their first offering since their last album IN 2010, The Beginning.

Speaking to Complex, said their latest offering would feature songs that focus on their philanthropic efforts.

“We have a different laboratory on this one, and audio scientists and activists, philanthropists, and all this music that we’re doing right now reflects that side, the philanthropy side of who we are as people and the independent route in a way,” he said.

“So Ap will speak on the school that he got in the Philippines, he got a bunch of schools in the Philippines. I got an after school program here in East Los Angeles, where we teach our kids science, technology. And Taboo is with the Native community and the American Cancer Society, just trying to address the issues and add to the community.”

The group will also embark on a European tour, beginning on 27 October, to support the album.
