Black Motion listed on line-up for Israeli show despite saying no to gig

Cape Town – South African duo Black Motion are listed on the line-up for Meteor Festival which is being held in Israel from 6 to 8 September 2018 but will not be performing according to their management company, Sprit Motion.

The Israeli festival is set to take place at a venue called Pecan Park and will reportedly include American singer Lana De Rey who has received backlash following her addition to the line-up.

Lana has since defended her upcoming performance.

Black Motion’s management have told Channel24 that they e-mailed the festival’s organisers and stated that they do not want their clients to perform and want to be excluded from the line-up. Channel24 has screengrabs of those e-mails.

Other performers who have gotten negative feedback after agreeing to hit the stage in Israel include Black Coffee and Die Antwoord.

Most recently local celebrity Shashi Naidoo made the headlines for pro-Israel comments that received negative pushback from activists.
