Black Sabbath and Slipknot launch mega Ozzfest Meets Knotsfest

Los Angeles - Ozzy Osbourne and Corey Taylor have announced a new mega festival called Ozzfest Meets Knotsfest.

The Black Sabbath and Slipknot frontmen announced that their music events will be joining forces this year for one "mind-blowing double-header weekend", which will take place at San Manuel Amphitheatre and Festival Grounds in San Bernardino, California on 24 and 25 September.

Speaking at the press launch in Hollywood on Thursday, Corey said: "[We want to] make the last North American show for Black Sabbath absolutely fucking monumental."

The Wait and Bleed rocker hopes the festival, which will feature bands chosen by himself and Ozzy, will show that heavy metal music is very much alive.

He said: "I think the best thing for this is that we send a statement to the rest of the world that heavy metal and hard rock will never fucking die."

Ozzfest and Knotsfest will be on separate days with Ozzy's line-up including the likes of Black Label Society, Megadeth, Disturbed and Opeth.

While Corey, 42, will host bands including Slayer, Suicide Silence and Butcher Babies.

More than 40 acts are set to perform over the weekend.

Ozzy, 67, split from his wife Sharon, 63, this month but the pair were reunited for the first time to announce the event.

The rocker told E! News: "Our wives have been very important to us."

Asked if she is "still the boss," he replied, "Oh, yeah."

Despite their marital problems, music manager Sharon insists it's business as usual.

She told Entertainment Tonight: "It's business. This is my business, you know? This is what I do. People have forgotten, because they see me every day on the chat show, but this is still the other half of my life.

"This is what I do. It's what I've done my whole life. So, it's a huge part of who I am, you know.

"We've been working together, my lord, since 1976. That's how long we've been working together. Before we were married. So, it's been a long time."

Tickets for Ozzfest Meets Knotfest go on sale Friday, 20 May.
