Did a biscuit break up The Beatles? Yes, according to this insider

Cape Town - Abbey Road sound engineer Geoff Emerick said that the alleged theft of a digestive biscuit broke up one of the biggest bands in history.

That's right, in 2006, the late sound engineer - who also worked on Revolver and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - said in his book that The Beatles broke up because of a biscuit.

In the memoir titled Here, There and Everywhere: My Life Recording the Music of the Beatles, Geoff set the explosive scene: "...THAT B**H!' Everyone looked aghast, but we all knew exactly who he was talking about. 'She's just taken one of my biscuits!' Harrison explained. He wasn't the least bit sheepish, either. As far as he was concerned, those biscuits were his property, and no one was allowed to go near them. Lennon began shouting back at him, but there was little he could say to defend his wife (who was happily munching away in the studio) because he shared exactly the same attitude towards food."

Apparently, that was the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back and resulted in the four famous men parting ways after a long period of infighting.

Geoff died in October 2018 when he was 72. Drummer Ringo Starr said in a statement following the engineer's death "He was a great engineer, very helpful to all of us in the studio. With him and George Martin they helped us to step up on Revolver. He will be missed. Barbara and I send peace and our love to his family. Peace & love, Ringo xxx "
