Get up close and personal with Lionel Richie at the Cape Town Stadium

Cape Town - With just over a week to go until Lionel Richie performs in Cape Town, Big Concerts has worked together with Cape Town Stadium and Gearhouse to create a brand new intimate configuration for his performance on 18 March 2016 at Cape Town Stadium, supported by Zonke.

Working in depth with Cape Town Stadium and Gearhouse, South Africa’s leading technical supplier to the live event industry, Big Concerts has reconfigured the standard stadium setup into a new, fully seated, more intimate setup with the stage positioned nearest to the south quadrant of the stadium.

Managing Director of Big Concerts, Justin Van Wyk commented: "Lionel Richie will be the second concert in this new stadium layout. Fans will be treated to an evening of Lionel Richie with exceptional sound and a world-class production played out in an intimate setting." Van Wyk also added: "This new configuration will allow us to bring fans even closer to the artist they love. Capacity, however is limited and we urge fans to get their tickets now starting at R430."

One of the world’s best-selling artists of all time, Lionel Richie has sold over 100 million albums worldwide. As a member of the Commodores, Lionel developed a groundbreaking style that defied genre categories, penning smash hits such as Three Times a Lady, Still, and Easy. After writing Lady for Kenny Rogers, and Endless Love with Diana Ross (which garnered an Academy Award and a Golden Globe nomination), Motown asked him to do a solo album. The self-titled debut would cement him as a star in his own right and earn him his very first Grammy for the hit Truly. The diamond-certified Album of the Year winner Can’t Slow Down followed in 1983, giving the world classics such as All Night Long (All Night), Penny Lover, Stuck On You, and Hello.
