Google honours Hugh Masekela on what would have been his 80th birthday

Cape Town - World-renowned South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela has been honoured by tech giant Google with a gorgeous doodle to mark what would have been his 80th birthday. 

The music veteran was born on 4 April 1939 in the town of Witbank, South Africa and died in 2018 at the age of 78.

The world-renowned trumpeter, flugelhornist, cornetist, composer and singer was known for his jazz compositions, as well as for writing well-known anti-apartheid songs such as Soweto Blues and Bring Him Back Home.
