Gospel singer and songwriter, Oscar Moloi, lives his life as a testimony of faith, perseverance and love.

Born and raised in Moruleng, in the North West, Oscar was brought up by a single parent and experienced some hardships during his childhood. He says church cushioned and comforted him from life’s adversities.

GROWING UP IN A MUSICAL FAMILY

He credits his maternal grandparents for his gift in music. He says their love for praise and worship honed his talent.

“Growing up, I was surrounded by beautiful gospel sounds. My maternal grandparents were great singers and Christians who played a major role in laying a foundation for my career,” he says. He adds that he is grateful for the direction his family led him to as he is now passionately using his gift as a tool to heal, inspire and expose others to the love of Jesus Christ.

LEAVING HIS CAREER

The qualified paramedic says he knew from a young age that he was called to serve God.

After qualifying as a paramedic, he worked in the medical field for a number of years but later went into full-time ministry.

“I knew I was called to minister, hard for me to leave the profession that I was in. God spoke to me about the direction I should take from the early stages of my life. When I took the decision to serve Him full-time, I knew he would provide,” he says.

He says his mission is to expose the young generation to the glory of God. Oscar, who describes his music as hardcore gospel, says it is inspired by the word of God.

“Gospel music for me is not just entertainment but a tool I use to minister the word of God. I have seen the Lord heal people during services while I was singing,” he says.

BUILDING HIMSELF

He says with the grace of God, he has managed to build himself from being a singer and keyboard player in the church to an established artist. “I have four albums to my name with my fifth being a live DVD and CD. I have worked with different artists in the country. I am happy to say that my music has gone across borders.

I have ministered in Botswana and I will be visiting other African countries this year. I see God taking me internationally as well,” he says. Oscar has also just started the Platinum Gospel Music Awards in the North West province.

“Through my recording company, Oscar Entertainment, I search for and groom upcoming artists. I assist them with music production, recordings and studio bookings,” he says.

HIGHLIGHT OF HIS CAREER

He has always dreamt about establishing a gospel choir in Rustenburg, a dream that came to life in 2018. He helped form The Mighty Rustenburg Gospel Choir. A proud Oscar says the choir will soon take the North West province by storm.

“The source of this passion and commitment is my love for God. I am completely sold on serving God and His kingdom,” he says.
