Grammy award-winning artist Chaka Khan headed to SA for Cape Town Jazz Fest 2019

Cape Town – On Tuesday Cape Town International Jazz Festival organisers espAfrika revealed five female-led acts to perform at the 2019 edition of the large-scale event.

The first CTIJF artists announced are: ten-time Grammy Award winner Chaka Khan; multiple award-winning jazz pianist Eliane Elias (Brazil); multi-instrumentalist, neo-soul group Moonchild; South Africa’s first all-female big band, The Lady Day Big Band ; and local sensation, singer/ songwriter Shekhinah.

The event will celebrate the last 20 years of international and local jazz and is set to take place on 29 and 30 March 2019 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. 

CTIJF plans to reveal international and local artists for the festival online throughout the year, instead of its traditional format of press conferences. These multiple line-up announcements will keep the conversation going with new artists to be revealed regularly.

Ticket sales for CTIJF 2019 are now open on Computicket. Weekend Pass tickets are available at R 999 and a day pass is available for R 850.
