Cape Town - The Jonas brothers have opened up about their sudden split in 2013 and the behaviour among the trio that caused the boy band to break up.
After a six-year hiatus – brothers Kevin (31), Joe (29) and Nick (26) – reunited earlier this year and released their hit single Sucker, Fox News reports.
"When it ended it wasn’t good," Nick said.
"It was a couple of years of rebuilding our family, and in our mind it seemed impossible for us to do this ever again."
In an article published by Billboard on Thursday, Joe revealed that each brother had wanted to create something on their own, causing the brothers to argue often.
"We all wanted to create something on our own and were just trying to force it into what was going on. We were going through the motions, without the heart of it," he said.
"The way we communicated to each other wasn’t healthy anymore."
Speaking to Vanity Fair in 2016, Joe revealed at the time that he was seeing a therapist and wasn’t on speaking terms with his brothers.
He added it was Nick who brought up the idea of a split to focus on different things, such as acting and doing music on his own.

Nick said the turning point in their relationship came when the brothers started filming a documentary about their life – which will be released later this year, People reports.
"We spent a lot of time filming again, and then I think we realised that there was a magic there we missed," he said.
"I sort of began the conversation about doing this again and after a few more conversations they came around. Thankfully, some good healing happened during filming this documentary.
"Now almost a year later, we’re in the best place as family, which is the most important thing. From there, this music and new chapter have just been incredible."
The trio are set to release a new studio album called Happiness Begins on 7 June and plan to go on tour later this year.
