Cape Town - South Africa's “rock president” Karen Zoid released a visual album on iTunes on Friday, 25 August.
The visual album consists of a featured video for each of the 7 tracks on Zoid's new Afrikaans album, Op die Oomblik – Deel Een, that was released on iTunes on 11 August.
The album reached the no 1 position on SA iTunes before noon on the day of release and remained in the no 1 position for five days.
Op die Oomblik – Deel Een will also be available in stores from 1 September.
Visual albums seem to be a growing trend in both the international and local music industry. Beyoncé made waves with her first self-titled visual album back in 2013 already.
On our own shores local singer and songwriter Donald Moatshe earlier this year released his fourth studio album, Something More. It was a visual album that boasted collaborations with international musicians in a bid to elevate his music to globally celebrated art.
