Johannesburg - Kelly Rowland just touched down in Cape Town and we were really excited for a possible Destiny’s Child reunion at Global Citizen Festival this Sunday but according to Michelle Williams, that won’t be happening.
Taking to her Instagram the Kelly, shared snaps of herself decked out in a bright orange jacket which she captioned, “Peek a Boo I see you South Africa...”

The last time the 37-year-old singer was in South Africa was back in 2013 and many tweeps took to the timeline to express just how excited they are about her visit, “Kelly Rowland is in South Africa guys, Beyoncé is coming,” tweeted one user making reference to the Mandela 100 event which is taking place in Johannesburg on 2 December.
We’re not the only ones speculating that a secret DC performance could possibly be in the works, taking to the timeline one tweep wrote,
“Beyoncé & Jay-Z are headlining @GlblCtzn festival in South Africa Sunday. @KELLYROWLAND is posting she’s in SA. ANOTHER DESTINYS CHILD REUNION?! TWICE IN ONE YEAR?! I’m not ready for this jelly. I’ll loose my breath for these independent women performing! Too. Much. To. Handle.”
But before we could revisit all of our favourite DC songs or memorise lyrics and get our choreography in check, Michelle Williams – the third member of the iconic female group – said that there would be no reunion.
Taking to her Instagram stories, Michelle confirmed that she was actually in New York for a Broadway musical rehearsal, “Yes Kelly is there, B is there as well for her Global Citizen performance unfortunately I am in New York,” she explained to her fans.
“So the ones… that are tryna put two-and-two together for some type of surprise performance, it’s not gonna happen – not this time at least and that’s the truth. But have fun ya’ll! (sic)”
Although there might not be a DC performance, the GC festival has some hot local and national headlining celebrity performances lined-up and recently added to the list is world renowned DJ Black Coffee.
