Lauryn Hill on her upcoming to SA shows with Nas: 'We're coming to establish an important precedent'

Cape Town - Singer Lauryn Hill is coming to South Africa for one performance on 2 February 2019 at Joburg's Ticketpro Dome.

The Grammy award-winning artist will be performing alongside special guest, rapper Nas.

The tour is to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her ever popular album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and sold 422 624 copies in its first week – breaking the record for first-week sales by a female artist.

According to streaming service Spotify the album is still very popular, as is Lauryn.  She has over 3.2 million monthly listeners, with her largest Spotify audiences streaming from London, Los Angeles and São Paulo. And of course, you’ve probably guessed, her most streamed track on Spotify is Doo Wop (That Thing) with 127 million streams to date.

In a statement released on Tuesday, via her Twitter account, Lauryn expressed her commitment to coming to SA and emphasised it's importance.

The 43-year-old said in the lengthy post, "Not only are we coming but we're coming to establish an important precedent."
