As the world grapples with the coronavirus, the South African entertainment and arts industry finds itself taking unprecedented steps to keep the public safe.

This follows a press briefing by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday in which he said that no gatherings of more than 100 people are permitted at this stage.

As a result, theatres, festivals and more have all shut down until further notice.

One company hard hit by these precautions is Big Concerts, who have now officially postponed Lighthouse Family's SA tour that was due to take place in the coming weeks.

Big Concerts said in a statement released to the press on Monday: "Your safety is always our top priority. The South African government has now declared a national state of disaster, and banned travellers from high risk countries from entering the country as well as public gatherings of more than 100 people. Regrettably under the circumstances the Lighthouse Family tour is postponed. We are working to reschedule the tour and all tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled dates. Further information will be sent directly to ticket holders as soon as it becomes available."

They added: "We wish everyone the best health and safety during this difficult time, and we look forward to connecting fans with all their favourite artists and events soon."
