Lupita Nyong'o wrote to Taylor Swift to gain movie song permission

Cape Town - Lupita Nyong'o personally reached out to Taylor Swift to win her permission to use her hit song Shake It Off, in her new zombie comedy Little Monsters. The Oscar winning actress told the press about what the pop singer's song means to her at Sundance film festival, where Little Monsters premiered.

According to Billboard Lupita's character performs the song in one scene on a ukulele in the film.

About the track, the actress told E! News, "I was going through a hard time professionally, and I was just in a funk...I was working abroad, and my best friend came to cheer me up. He played Shake It Off on his phone, and we just had a dance party in my bedroom."
