Cape Town - This year’s budget speech was probably the second most-anticipated parliamentary event after the Sona on Friday.

While most people were preparing to see how the minister of finance, Malusi Gigaba, would make life better for the poor, others were hoping he’d get fired before then.

The controversial Gigabyte as he’s affectionately known delivered his maiden budget speech today and thanks to his Kendrick Lamar quote, Twitter has something to laugh about.

A short clip of the minister quoting Kendrick’s Alright lyrics was posted on social mediar shortly after his speech.

In the clip, which was posted by @Official_IDS_SA, the minister can be heard saying “… and poet Kendrick Lamar says: ‘We gon’ be right, we gon’ be alright’,” while emphasising his point with hand gestures.

Some tweeps found Kendrick being referred to as a poet hilarious, while others were impressed the minister listened to the American rapper.
