Cape Town - Radio is dead. Long live radio! That’s the motto of SA’s groundbreaking new online radio content portal, The Eye.
The Eye is the brainchild of radio veterans Jon Savage and Catherine Grenfell. It breaks the mould of not only traditional radio but also gives online radio a swift kick in the pants. With a different broadcasting formula to other stations, The Eye offers something no-one else does: celebs with serious street-cred airing shows on a rotated schedule - missed your weekly dose of your favourite radio show? Don’t worry - you can catch it again tomorrow in a different time channel.
The latest additions to the line-up are Hollywood star Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def) and journalist/producer Ferrari Sheppard. Their first show airs at 14:00 on Thursday.
The rest of the rock-star line-up on The Eye includes:
Jack Parow
Gigi LaMayne
Catherine Grenfell
Jon Savage
"The Eye is radio you can see. It’s made by people who actually really, really, really want good things for you and the people around you," says co-founder Jon Savage. "In fact, we make really, really good things for you. And we ask that you talk to us, but let’s just be clear. If you talk to us, be honest with us because we are going to be honest with you."
"Traditional radio is boring," says music authority and co-founder Catherine Grenfell. "I want to hear stories. Stories about music. Stories about real people and real life. This is what radio should be. This is what The Eye is."
The Eye broadcasts content 24/7 from its Cape Town headquarters.
