Offset released after being arrested for gun possession

Los Angeles - Migos rapper, Kiari Cephus famously known as Offset was arrested on Friday, July 20, on possession of a weapon and drug charges.

According to Atlanta Journal Constitution the rapper and his bodyguard, Senay Gezahgn, were travelling in Jonesboro, Georgia when police pulled over Offset for an improper lane change. During the search, an officer found less than 1kg (twenty eight grams) of weed, three hand guns and $107 000 (R1.4 million) in cash.

Offset was then charged with improper lane change, possession of marijuana of less than 1kg , possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of weapon during the commission of crime.  Senay was charged with possession of marijuana less than 1kg and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.

The rapper was released Saturday morning from the Clayton County Jail in Jonesboro, Georgia just after 10 AM after posting  $17 000 (R229K) bail. Drew Findling, the rapper’s lawyer told E Entertainment that Offset is home with his wife and newborn daughter. He continued to say, "His most important focus right now is to be with his wife, children and family”.

This is not Offset’s first time being arrested. According to Billboard the Migos rapper was arrested in 2016 for driving with a suspended license in Atlanta, and spent time behind bars in 2015 after being arrested on drug and gun charges during a concert at Georgia Southern University.

Cardi B gave birth to her first child Kulture and Offset's fourth, on July 10 has not commented on her husband's arrest.
