Cape Town – There couldn’t possibly have been a better venue for Angus & Julia Stone’s first gig in South Africa than Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
With a thick mist blanket rolling over the mountain and a packed crowd it was the perfect evening for a laidback night out.
As promised, during an interview with Channel24 earlier this week, the brother-and-sister duo performed a mix of old and new songs – everything from Big Jet Plane to Chateau.
The siblings, that had just arrived from Australia, entertained the crowds with whimsical stories of their love lives and what inspired their songs – like Angus falling in love with a beautiful girl while hitchhiking with a friend to a music festival.
The folk and indie band will next perform at the 7th annual Parklife Festival at Marks Park in Emmarentia on Saturday, 27 January. They’ll end their tour at the 2nd annual Parklife Festival at the Durban Botanic Gardens on Sunday, 28 January.
Photographer Nardus Engelbrecht captured a few highlights from Thursday night's show for Channel24.
