Cape Town - All it took was a tour to London and singer-songwriter Tailor was hooked, so much so she packed her bags and moved to the UK!

I toured London in August 2017 where I played some of my own shows but also joined Johnny Clegg on his Final Journey tour at The Apollo in Hammersmith. It was during this time that I fell in love with the city.

More than ever I was ready to target a bigger audience with my stories. Sharing my work with more fans around the world is most musicians’ dream. I was ready to tackle it head-on and make the move,” Tailor (31) says.

She left sunny South Africa in January this year and moved to Twickenham where she’s been doing a lot of performing and even sold out some of her shows.

“I’ve been collaborating with some high-profile musicians, had a guest slot on The Posies’ tour and played my first London show for 2018 to a sold-out venue on a snowy day. Some of the trains were cancelled but people still bought tickets and attended the show. I felt extremely blessed,” she adds.

Now Tailor is back in SA as part of her 1000 Miles tour, with gigs in Johannesburg and Cape Town from 20 April until 5 May.

So what’s the secret to her success? “I’m proud of the work I’ve done on this third record. My albums are like my children in a way. I respect them, listen to them and then I send them off to boarding school where from time to time I’ll give them a call and catch up on the good ole days! I don’t take myself too seriously,” she quips, laughing. “The album is a great piece of work and offers a bigger and bold sound to fans.”

Although having a ball of a time abroad, Tailor says South Africa will always be home. After all, she couldn’t imagine her life without sunny days and ProNutro, of course!
