Solange’s surprise new album is out and it’s breathtakingly beautiful

Cape Town – It’s been two-and-a-half years since Solange released A Seat at The Table – her critically acclaimed album – now she’s back with more new music and it was worth the wait.

The surprise visual album is titled When I Get Home and upon first listen, it is nostalgic in terms of the music but futuristic in terms of the visuals. It’s an ode to her roots, that she said on Twitter should be listened to from start to finish. Perhaps meaning that it’s more of an odyssey than a few hot singles with fillers in-between.

LISTEN TO THE ALBUM HERE:

The day before the release of When I Get Home the 32-year-old shared photographs and snippets of video on her social media and linked to a throwback style website titled, BlackPlanet. The collection of songs is Solange's fourth full-length album since her 2002 debut titled Solo Star. Local fans will remember that in 2017 the singer was due to perform at Joburg’s Afropunk but had to cancel

The new work includes 19 tracks and a movie that walks the line between looking back and creating something new. Solange has announced nine album related events in Houston – her hometown – which will take place on 3 March.
