Cape Town – Taylor Swift's new album, Lover has become 2019's top-selling album after just two days according to Nielsen Music as first reported by Billboard Magazine.
Lover was released on Friday, and according to Nielsen, the album approached 500 000 through its second day of release on Saturday.
With those numbers, Taylor's seventh album has surpassed 2019's previous top-selling collection of the songs, the soundtrack of A Star Is Born.
Lover – which is Taylor's first album that she owns the master recordings of – is expected to sell at least 700 000 copies by the end of its first week.
If sales meet all expectations Lover will be the biggest album release since the singer's last release, Reputation, which sold 1.216 million copies its first week out in 2017.
