Waking up to music can help you feel more alert

Walking up can be tricky and let's be honest, it doesn't take a lot to get out on the wrong side of the bed.

Which can ruin your entire day, but there's one way to ensure a better wake up according to a group of Australian researchers, the change you might need, is a change of alarm.

The study is titled, Alarm tones, music and their elements: Analysis of reported waking sounds to counteract sleep inertia and it was published by Stuart J. McFarlane, Jair E. Garcia, Darrin S. Verhagen and Adrian G. Dye on 28 January 2020.

Their research shows that if you're using a more harsh tone to wake yourself up, it may work against you, leaving you feeling groggy. A more melodic alarm, however, may help you feel more alert.

So, there you have it! Maybe don't wake up a loud bell or grinding noise, when you can choose a softer, slowly building tune.
