WATCH: Demi Lovato's big return to the Grammy stage did not disappoint

Cape Town – Demi Lovato performed for the first time since her near-fatal overdose in 2018, at Sunday night's Grammy Awards 2020.

The 27-year-old singer was hospitalised in July 2018 after the overdose and spent the last few years, relatively out of the spotlight. Demi told Apple Music's Zane Lowe earlier this week that the song, which she performed titled Anyone, was written just days before her overdose.

During her performance on Sunday, while wearing a beautiful ball gown, Demi stumbled in her first attempt to sing the song, stopping after one line.

After taking a moment to compose herself, she restarted, with tears streaming down her face and belted out a show-stopping performance.

Some of the song's lyrics are: "I tried to talk to my piano/I tried to talk to my guitar/Talk to my imagination/Confided into alcohol".

Anyone was made available for streaming following her performance.
