WATCH: Ed Sheeran’s sound guys explain how he fills a stadium with sound using only an acoustic guitar

Cape Town – In case you missed the news on Friday, English music star Ed Sheeran, has sold out all three of his South African tour dates.

Two dates are taking place at Joburg’s FNB Stadium and one is taking place at Cape Town Stadium.

The dates for the shows are: Saturday, 23 March; Sunday, 24 March and Wednesday 27 March respectively.

The talented singer-songwriter went from playing intimate theatres in England to filling out some of the biggest venues in the world, night after night, but unlike other pop stars he doesn’t have a huge backing band complete with all the lights and whistles. So how does Ed keep his sound consistent and keep his fans happy with little more than his guitar, a microphone and looping equipment?

He has a crew of qualified and experienced sound guys who have been with him since his smallest shows and tightest budgets. Together with Ed they have created an on-stage sound that elevates the singer’s simple set-up into a minimalist world-class production.
