WATCH: John Mayer’s new music video seems like it was made in a rush on tight budget

Cape Town – John Mayer has always had an irreverent sense of humour.  

It’s been captured both in hit and miss music videos and widely shared interviews, so it should come as no surprise that his new video reflects that.

The video is for his hopeful song, New Light and in the visual John looks like he’s in front of a very cheesy karaoke screen complete with a stock image actress. 

John tweeted about the video: "I needed to make a video for New Light but nobody could agree on a budget. (MUSIC INDUSTRY amirite?) So I went to a place downtown and made this with a company that usually does birthday and Bar Mitzvah videos."

The video was released on Thursday and you should take a look and judge for yourself.
